Live life
The 2.03-meter winger belonged to the basketball team of West Virginia University in the United States from 1984 to 1987. In the 1986/87 season, the Canadian was the best basket shooter on the university team (12.9 points/game). In 1987 he took part in the Canadian student selection at the Summer Universiade, he was also a member of Canada's national team, which reached sixth place at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Yearwood scored an average of 10.5 points per game during the tournament. Also in 1988, he was convicted of drug possession and intention to sell the drugs.
In 1989/90 he was under contract with Apollon Patras in Greece, in 1990/91 Yearwood played in the same country with Panathinaikos Athens. The Canadian, known above all for his attack performances, accepted a contract offer from the German Bundesliga team SG Braunschweig in the run-up to the 1993/94 season. Initially, he lived up to this reputation in the Bundesliga and was one of the best basket shooters in the league. However, it was not possible to integrate Yearwood as an outstanding single player into the team structure. After he had scored in November 1993 in two games together only four points and he was accused of listlessness and refusal of performance, it came between the Canadian and the Brunswick at the end of November 1993 to the separation. Yearwood had achieved a point average of 18.4 in 14 Bundesliga bets for the Lower Saxony.
In the 1994/95 season he played for Apoel Nicosia in Cyprus. In the run-up to the 1995/96 season he was with the then new NBA team Toronto Raptors, but was removed from the squad in mid-October 1995 and thus before the start of the season.
He strengthened the Swiss national league team Vevey in the final phase of the 1997/98 season and was subsequently signed by the team for the 1998/99 season. At the end of January 1999, Yearwood moved within the national league of Vevey to Geneva-Versoix.
After the end of his playing time, Yearwood became coach. He was transferred to the head coach of the basketball team at Dawson College in Westmount in his home country, and he also worked as a selection coach for the basketball federation of the province of Quebec. In 2019, Yearwood was appointed to an advisory board for an NBA youth round in Canada.
