Weather alert

A Weather Alert is issued when the weather service receives enough information that indicates high probability of strong storms, hail, snow, strong winds under severe storms, extreme temperatures. And it doesn't necessarily happen with lightning or flood.

In America. The National Meteorological Service emits a "Significant Weather Alert" when the size of the hail stones is greater than 2 cm in diameter, or the winds are at least 90 km / h or greater.

Weather alert in Europe
Meteoalarm is a website developed by the European meteorological services network EUMETNET with the support of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in order to coordinate the issuance of alerts from adverse weather events (such as strong rainfall, storms, wind storms, heat waves, fires, fog, snow or intense cold) or from events caused or influenced by them (such as aludes, forest fires or extreme coastal events).

The countries represented are Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. These are countries whose national meteorological services are members of EUMETNET.

Levels and levels of adversity
Meteoalarm presents a colorful map of Europe with four levels of alert and accompanied by a legend with the list of countries and symbols that indicate the type of alert and its highest level within the territory of each country. In turn, a country can be selected to see more detailed information about it and its weather prediction areas.
