"Who's Who in Economics"
- CONTENT--
Who's Who in Economics is a handbook by the British historian of economics, Mark Blaug, whose first edition was published in 1983 in English, and the last fourth edition was published in 2003.
Information on the book
It is a biographical dictionary of the leading players in the field of economics, an extensive and authoritative guide to the most frequently cited academic economists around the world. Each article is written by the economists themselves and provides relevant biographical information, main areas of interest, major publications and major contributions to the economy, written by the economists themselves as they see it.
The first edition was published in 1983, which included biographical and bibliographic details of about 700 living and 400 deceased economists. The authors decided to include in the list of economists whose work was published in 200 peer-reviewed journals on economics and had a high in 1970-1980. The creators of the list realized that many, of course, important economists were out of the book.
The second edition was published under the editorship of M. Blaug in 1986, which included the authors of articles for 1972-1983 in the number of 900 living and 400 dead economists.
The third edition was published in 1999, which included the authors of articles for 1984-1996 in the number of 1,100 living economists and 550 deaths.
The fourth edition included 743 living economists as of December 31, 2001, whose papers were published in 1990-2000 and were the most frequently cited on the basis of the SSCI, cutting off the rank of 1168 (425 economists out of the total did not participate in this project), and were relevant on the basis of more than 600 economic journals, monographs, dissertations and reports on economics.
