Its name has been changed to "Rajiv Gandhi National Park". It was included in Project Tiger launched by the World Wildlife Fund in 1949. The state's first tiger conservation project began here. This sanctuary was declared a national park on November 1, 1980. Mainly tigers are found here, along with sambar, chinkara, nilgai, jackal, and blackbuck. It is the smallest tiger sanctuary in India but is known as the home of Indian tigers. The largest number of wild animals are found in this sanctuary. A temple of Trinetra Ganesha and Jogi Mahal are located here. Tourists generally see tigers from Jogi Mahal. This sanctuary has Raj Bag, Gilai Sagar Padmal, Talab, Malik Talaab, Lahpur, and Mansarovar lakes. The forest of the sanctuary has mixed vegetation with the highest number of dhok trees.
