Early Life and Club Career
Wilhelm "Willy" Kreuz (* 29 May 1949 in Vienna) is a former Austrian football player. He began his career playing for reigning champion Admira Energie in 1966, soon becoming one of the club's most accurate strikers.
In 1972, Kreuz moved to Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands, where he played for two seasons before joining their city rivals Feyenoord in 1974. During his time at Feyenoord, he became Dutch vice-champion behind PSV Eindhoven in the first two seasons. He later played for SK VÖEST Linz from 1978 to 1982.
International Career
Kreuz made his debut for Austria on 19 April 1969 against Cyprus in Nicosia. With one goal each in his first three international games, he soon had a regular place in the team. He earned 56 caps and scored 12 goals for Austria. His last international appearance was a June 1981 World Cup qualification match against Finland.
Kreuz's most notable international achievement came at the 1978 FIFA World Cup, where he was part of the Austrian national team that beat the reigning world champion Germany in the "miracle of Córdoba".
