William I of Namur

Origin
According to the Histoire du comté de Namur, William was the fifth-born son of the Marquis of Namur, John I, and his second wife, Maria d'Artois, who, according to the Contio Chronici Guillelmi de Nangiaco, was the daughter of Bianca of Brittany, wife of Philip d'Artois. John I of Namur according to the Norman Chronique du XIVe siècle, was the firstborn son of the Count of Flanders and Marquis of Namur, Guido I and his second wife, the Marquis of Namur, Isabella, who, according to Histoire généalogique de la maison royale de Dreux (Paris), was the daughter of the Count of Luxembourg, of La Roche and of Arlon Margaret
Biography
His father, John, was at his second marriage; from 1308, according to the Chronicius Guillelmi de Nangiaco, in that year he remained widow of the first wife, Margherita of Clermont, who, he had not given him children.
His father, John I, died in Paris in 1330; according to the Nécrologe de l'abbaye de Floreffe, John (Johannis de Flandria comitis Namurcensis) died on 10 February (IV Id Feb). His brother, John, the firstborn son, succeeded him as John II.
His brother, John II, decided to take part in the war against the idolatrous peoples of Prussia, where he did not arrive, because he died during the journey, in April 1335.Essendo John II without lineage, Guido, secondborn male, succeeded him as Guido II.
Guido was Marquis of Namur for less than a year, as, in March 1336, participating in a tournament suffered a wound that led him to death. As Guido II had no offspring, his brother Philip succeeded him; according to the diplomatic Opera et historica, tomus primus of Auberti Miraei, Philip succeeded him, by express will of Guido; in an additional note explains that Philip, the fourth-born, succeeded him as the third-born, Henry, was already dead (Henrico jam defunct).
