"Wolgoes"
--- CONTENT ---
The Golgoi or Golgoi were ancient polichni in Cyprus.
According to mythology there are two versions of the founding of the city. One says it was founded by Wolgo from Sikyona of ancient Achaia where he also gave his name. The second version says that Wolgos was the son of Venus and Adonis. The city was worshipped by Goliath Artemis and inscriptions under that name have been found, also Venus worship is believed to have been extended by the Wolgos to the rest of the island.
The excavations that continue to date have brought to light necropolises, inscriptions, statue heads and ruins of buildings.
