Qualification
England was drawn for qualifying in Group 6, meeting Croatia, the Netherlands, Slovenia and, for the first time, Serbia. England started with a 2:2 in Serbia, with the English women in this game having to accept the only goals in the qualification. In the third game against the Netherlands there was a draw, but since all other games were won, the Englishwomen could qualify with a point advantage over the Dutch for the European Championship. Best English scorers were Steph Houghton, Jill Scott, Rachel Williams, Ellen White and Rachel Yankey with three goals each.

In preparation for the European Championship three test games were scheduled. In addition, the English team took part in the Cyprus Cup in March, which they won for the second time.
