"Women's Football League 2016-17"
--- CONTENT ---
The first category of women's football 2016-17 was the 40th edition of Cyprus's first class football under the auspices of the Cyprus Football Federation. Apollo won the championship for the fifth time in his history.
Operating system
8 teams participated in the first-class championship 2016-17. It was held in two phases. In the first phase, all teams competed between them twice, once inside and one away. After the completion of the 14 racers (I phase) the teams were divided into 2 groups, depending on their position, giving ranking matches (II phase). The results, points, sets and points of Phase I were transferred to the rankings.
Teams in seats 1–4 competed for winning the league and the positions leading to the European championships. The teams fought each other twice, once inside and once away. The champion was declared the team that gathered most points.
Teams in positions 5–8 competed between them twice, once inside and one away. The last team was graded in the Second Division 2017–18.
Score system
The racing scoring system was as follows:
In a 3–0 win and 3–1 set the winner received 3 points and the loser none.
In a 3–2 win the winner set received 2 points and the defeated 1 point.
Classification criteria
The teams were ranked based on the total number of points they won. In case of a tie in the total number of points won by two or more teams the ranking criteria were:
Higher ranked the team with the highest number of points.
In the event of a tie in the total number of points won by two or more teams, these were ranked in descending order depending on the total number of wins of each team (higher in the score ranked the team with most wins)
If the teams had the same number of wins, they were ranked in descending order depending on the fraction resulting from the division of the total winning sets with the total lost sets (higher in the score was the group with the largest fraction)
If the tie between the teams continued, these were ranked in descending order depending on a fraction resulting from the division of total winning points with the total missed points (higher in the score was the group with the largest fraction).
In case the tie between the teams continued, they were ranked in descending order depending on the number of wins each team in the matches between them (more high in the score ranked the team with most wins).
If the teams had the same number of wins, they were ranked in descending order depending on a fraction resulting from the division of the winnings with the lost sets in the matches between them (higher in the score was the group with the largest fraction).
