--- CONTENT ---
The first category of women's football 2007-08 was the 31st edition of Cyprus's first class football under the auspices of the Cyprus Football Federation. The championship was won by AEL for the 26th time in her history.
Operating system
Nine teams participated in the 2007–08 first-class championship. It was held in two phases. In the first phase, all teams competed between them twice, once inside and one away.
According to the first phase ranking series, the first four teams gave each other play off matches to promote the champion. The teams competed as follows: 1st-4th and 2nd-3th. To qualify for the next round one team of each pair had to achieve 3 wins.
The winners of the two pairs of the semi-final phase competed with each other to promote the champion. To be declared a champion team had to achieve 4 wins. The two losers competed for winning third place. Three wins were required to win the third place.
All the rounds measured the wins the teams had achieved in the first phase of the league. The series of matches of each pair began at the team seat which finished higher at the end of the first phase of the league and continued alternately in the seats of the two teams until the completion of the phase.
Teams that had positions 5 to 9 at the end of the first phase of the league retained their positions. Teams finishing at positions 8 and 9 were relegated to the Second Division 2008-09.
Score system
Each win was scored by 2 points and every loss by 1 point.
Classification criteria Phase I
The teams were ranked based on the total number of points they won. In case of a tie in the total number of points won by two or more teams the ranking criteria were:
Higher ranked the team with the greatest difference between the victors and the lost sets.
If the teams had the same difference, the group was ranked higher with the largest fraction resulting from the division of the total winning sets with the total lost sets.
If the tie continued, account was taken of the results of the meetings (in order: points, sets, points).
If the tie continued, higher ranked the team with the largest fraction resulting from dividing the total earned points with the total missed points.
If the tie continued, a race was held on a neutral field designated by the Cyprus Football Federation.
Changes over the period 2006-07
The 2007–08 championship was attended by the champion of the Second Division 2006-07, Marathon Kato Varosia.
