World Darts Federation

The World Darts Federation (WDF) is the international sports federation that governs the sport of darts.

History

The WDF was established in 1976 by representatives of fifteen nations. The organization's primary goal is to promote the sport of darts worldwide and obtain international recognition for it as a main sport.

Membership

Membership in the WDF is open to national federations recognized worldwide. As of September 2022, interim members include the darts associations of Liechtenstein, Bahrain, Ghana, Palestine, and Uganda. World ParaDarts is also an associate member of the WDF.

Tournaments

The WDF organizes several international championships, including:

* **WDF Cup Events**: These are the international championships of the WDF, consisting of various disciplines (single, double, team) in which medals are awarded. The official WDF World Cup is one such event.
* **Continental Championships**:
* **WDF Europe Cup**
* **WDF Americas Cup** (not mentioned in SOURCE 1)
* **WDF Pacific Cup**

The country that tops the overall ranking, based on its performance in these events, becomes the world champion. Winners of individual events can be officially recognized as champions of their respective categories.

Structure

The WDF is a member of SportAccord and encourages the promotion of darts between national federations and other organizations to achieve international recognition for the sport.
