WuXi AppTec Co., Ltd., commonly referred to as WuXi AppTec, is a Chinese contract research, development, and manufacturing services provider. The company's headquarters are located in Shanghai, China. Founded in December 2000 by organic chemist Ge Li, WuXi PharmaTech was initially established with the goal of producing ingredients for treatments of various diseases.

Over time, WuXi AppTec has expanded its operations to become a leading player in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2007, the company acquired AppTec Laboratory Services Inc., a US-based firm specializing in medical device and biologics testing. This acquisition marked an important milestone in WuXi's growth strategy, as it enabled the company to expand its services into new areas.

In 2010, WuXi AppTec established a large-scale manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China, which was later opened by its subsidiary STA (Shanghai Technology and Application). The same year saw the launch of Jiangsu Bio-Technology Co., Ltd.'s biological discovery, development, and manufacturing business. In 2011, WuXi AppTec further expanded its operations with the opening of a chemistry facility in Wuhan and a GMP biologics drug-substance facility at Wuxi City.

In 2013, WuXi AppTec formed a joint venture with PRA International (now known as PRA Health Sciences) to build a clinical research business in China. This partnership marked an important step towards the company's growth into the global pharmaceutical market. In subsequent years, WuXi AppTec continued to expand its operations, opening new facilities and acquiring several companies.

One notable acquisition was that of HD Biosciences (HDB), a US-based firm specializing in biological testing services. The acquisition took place in 2017 and marked an important milestone in WuXi's expansion into the global market. In 2021, Bristol Myers Squibb acquired a factory from WuXi AppTec located in Switzerland.

WuXi AppTec is also notable for its involvement with several high-profile companies, including Bristol Myers Squibb and Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). The company's research and production facilities are spread across China, South Korea, the United States, and other countries. WuXi AppTec has become a leading player in the pharmaceutical industry, providing contract research services to over 4,000 customers worldwide.
