Store architecture
The shops have all similarities in terms of interior architecture, especially in the choice of materials and display of the goods. In all points of sale there is a double exhibition system made of wood and satin steel; the walls and floors are made in the shades of matt black. Since 2020, the new Concept Store format provides for the adoption of pink color as a predominant element of the store.
Repayment against KIKO
On 13 October 2015, the Milan court, with judgment 11416/15, welcomed the requests submitted by KIKO on the question that Wycon imitated the furniture from his stores. The decision has inhibited Wycon's use in its sales points of the complex of furnishing elements characterizing the KIKO brand stores, condemning the company to a compensation of € 716,000. The court held that the furniture of KIKO stores has a "original and creative" character and therefore deserves protection under copyright law. He also judged Wycon guilty of "parasitic competition" for placing in place "a pedissequa imitation behaviour of the complex of commercial and promotional activities" of KIKO. The Court of First Instance judged the furnishings of the Wycon sales outlets a "direct appropriation" of this concept, highlighting a "almost integral portrait" of the furniture elements of the competitor, with only "modeste modifications". The Court of Milan has ordered Wycon, within two months, the replacement of the interior decoration of the 120 Italian shops “copyed” by KIKO, penalty – in case of default – a penalty of 10,000 euros for each store that on the 60th day had not yet been modified.
This judgment was subsequently suspended in the following judgment.
In 2018 the third degree of judgment is still open.
