Biography
Yadé Kara (born 1965 in Çayırlı, Eastern Anatolia) is a Turkish-German writer.
Kara grew up in West Berlin after her family moved there. She studied English and German studies as well as drama at the Schiller Theater in Berlin. Her career has spanned various fields, including acting, teaching, and journalism, with stints in cities such as London, Istanbul, and Hong Kong. Kara has also contributed to radio and television.
Literary Career
Kara's first novel, "Selam Berlin" (Hello Berlin), was published in 2003 by Diogenes Verlag in Zurich. The book won the Deutschen Bücherpreis (German Book Prize) in 2004, as well as the Adelbert-von-Chamisso-Förderpreis.
In addition to "Selam Berlin", Kara has written another novel, "Café Cyprus" (Cyprus Café), published by Diogenes Verlag in Zurich in 2008. The book contains 375 pages and is available with the ISBN 978-3-257-06623-4.

Awards and Recognition
Kara won the Deutschen Bücherpreis and the Adelbert-von-Chamisso-Förderpreis in 2004 for her first novel "Selam Berlin".
