Yael Averbuch

Yael Friedman Averbuch (born November 3, 1986 in New York City, New York) is an American footballer.

Career
Averbuch already played for the short-lived W-League franchise of the New Jersey Lady Stallions during her school days, before she played for the North Carolina University team Tar Heels during her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During the college draft for the 2009 season of the WPS, she was signed by the franchise of Sky Blue FC in the first round in fourth place and won the final match for the WPS championship against Los Angeles Sol at the end of her first professional season. For the 2011 season she switched to league rival Western New York Flash, where she also won the championship.

After short trips to the New Jersey Wildcats and the FK Rossijanka in Russia, she signed a contract with the Swedish first division team Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC. The 2012 season ended Gothenburg in fourth place, but won the final for the Svenska Cupen against Tyresö FF 2-1 after extra time. In the so-called Player Allocation for the 2014 season, she was assigned to the NWSL franchise Washington Spirit, for which she played in 22 league games. In October 2014 she played briefly with the Cypriot Champions League contestant Apollon Limassol, with whom she retired from the competition against the Danish representative Brøndby IF. At the end of 2014 she participated as a guest player with Arsenal LFC in the International Women's Club Championship (formerly Mobcast Cup). For the 2015 season of the NWSL, Averbuch moves to reigning champions FC Kansas City, with whom she was able to defend the championship. For the 2018 season, she moved to Seattle Reign FC, following her coach Vlatko Andonovski, who had already coached her in Kansas City.

National team
Averbuch went through all US junior national teams. With the U-19 she took part in the 2004 World Championship and won the bronze medal there. In January 2007 she was used for the first time as part of the four-nation tournament in China in the USA national team and completed until the end of 2013 26 international matches in which she scored a goal.
