#### Papal Succession Crisis

On February 15, Pope Lucius II died after being wounded in a battle against the Roman Senate. Bernardo Paganelli di Montemagno was elected as his successor on the same day, taking the name Eugene III. However, he had to flee Rome shortly thereafter due to opposition from the Senate.
