Ibn Battuta, a famous Arab traveler who had visited many countries of the Islamic world, arrived at the headquarters of Uzbek Khan, the Khan of the Golden Horde. He was received with unprecedented honor.

The Christian League defeated the fleet of the Turkish beylik Karasa in the Battle of Adramitia.

#### October 7: Battle of Taphed
Gerhard III the Great defeated the army of Christoph II's son Otto, capturing him until 1341. Otto's younger brother Waldemar fled to Brandenburg.

**Statute of Wiślica**
On October 9, Kazimir III, King of Poland from the Kujaw Piast dynasty, issued the Statute of Wiślica. This statute aimed to establish a unified state for Minor Poland, creating a generally binding legal framework that strengthened the rights of peasants and Jews. The latter were crucial for trade development, particularly with their credit transactions and management of mints.

**Papal Succession**
From December 13-20, Jacques Fournier was replaced as inquisitor after one week of deliberations by the conclave. John XXII was elected pope on this occasion, adopting the name Benedict XII. Like his predecessor Ludwig, he refused to recognize Bavaria as a kingdom and initiated construction of the Papal Palace in Avignon.
