Year Paulino

The Year Paulino was a Jubilee convened by Pope Benedict XVI in commemoration of the two-millennial birth of the Apostle Paul of Tarso. It was held between 28 June 2008 and 29 June 2009. He had a marked ecumenical character, according to the wishes of the Pontiff.
Call
On June 28, 2007, during the First Vespers of the Solemnity of Peter and Paul, Benedict XVI officially announced the call for a Jubilee Year in honor of the Apostle Paul:

By Decree of 10 May 2008, the Apostolic Penitentiary established the Indulgences to be received by the pilgrims participating in the Jubilee Year.
Opening
It was opened by Benedict XVI on the afternoon of June 28, 2008 at the Basilica of St. Paul Extramuros. The ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople Bartolomé I and representatives of other churches and Christian communities participated in the ceremony. The opening took place during the prayer of the I Vespers of Solemnity. At the ceremony the Holy Father opened the Pauline Gate and lit an oil candle.
Development
During the year, World Youth Day 2008 was held in Sydney, Australia. Between 5 and 26 October 2008, the XII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops was held, the theme of which was "The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church." In addition to Benedict XVI's visit to the Holy Land, in addition to France on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes and two African countries Cameroon and Angola.
Closure
It was closed by Pope Benedict XVI on the afternoon of June 28, 2009 at the Basilica of St. Paul Extramuros. Sending cardinals to places related to the appost Saint Paul for its closure: Holy Land, Damascus, Cyprus, Athens, Malta, Lebanon and Tarso, in Turkey.

On July 7, 2009, the encyclical letter Caritas in Veritate was presented on the integral human development in charity and truth and on June 29, 2009.
Curiosities
On June 19, 2009, before the end of the year, the Priest Year had begun on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of San Juan María Vianney.
