Events

Around 830-821 B.C.: reign of Mattan , king of Tyre. He has two children, Elyssa (Didon) and Pygmalion. His reign was disturbed by political quarrels, which continued during the reign of Elyssa, who succeeded him at his death. To strengthen his authority, Elyssa married Sychée, a high priest of Melkart, but Melkart was murdered by Pygmalion who took power in Tyre. Elyssa takes refuge in Cyprus with his supporters. After having abducted several young girls from Cyprus, she arrived in Africa in 814 B.C. and founded Carthage.
827 B.C.: In Assyria, Assur-danin-pal, allied with the petty nobility and 27 cities (including Assur, Nineveh, Erbil and Arrapha), triggered the civil war against his father Salmanazar III. The old king entrusted to his other son Shamshi-Adad V the task of watching the revolt (end in 820). The revolt of Assur-danin-pal is that of the Assyrian cities and the small rural nobility against the "great" of the kingdom, the rich and powerful governors of the newly annexed provinces and some dignitaries of the court, such as the turtânu Daiân-Ashur who has led all the campaigns in place of the king for five years.
827-781 B.C.: reign of Zhou Xuanwang, eleventh king of the Zhou Dynasty, in China. He is the son of the tyrant Zhou Liwang.
825 B.C.: traffic attested between the Eubea and North Syria by the presence of Greek ceramics on the Aramean site in the mouth of the Oronte (now Samandağ).
825-773 B.C. (or 823-772 B.C.): reign of Sheshonq. His long reign was marked by the increase of anarchy and the founding by Pétoubastis of a rival dynasty established at Tanis (c. 817 BC). Real power passes into the hands of the clergy of Amon.

824-806 B.C.: reign of Ishpuini, king of Urartu. It takes over the Musasir region, between the lakes of Van and Urmiah and the Parsua region, populated by Medes and Manneans (Mannai).

823-811 B.C.: reign of Shamshi Adad, king of Assyria. Period of instability in Assyria at the death of Salmanazar. Shamshi-Adad succeeds in suppressing the revolt of the 27 cities lit by his brother only around 820 .
821 B.C.: foundation of Kambé by Sidonians in the Gulf of Tunis.
Around 821.774 B.C.: reign of Pumiyaton (Pygmalion), king of Tyre.
