Yellow fever mosquito

The yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) is a small-scale mosquito in the Culicid family spread across subtropical areas of Africa, Asia, America, northern Australia. In Europe it was found in the past in Crete, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Sardinia, Spain, southern Russia, Turkey and the former Yugoslavia. Currently in Europe it was found only in Madeira, the Netherlands and the northeast coast of the Black Sea (southern Russia and Georgia). Recently identified in Romania and Moldova (2020).
In addition to the discomfort they cause through their pricks, these mosquitoes can pass on some particularly serious viral diseases, namely denga, yellow fever, Chikungunya fever and Zika fever, and probably Venezuela equine encephalitis and West Nile fever.
