Germasogeia
================Germasogeia (Greek: Γερμασόγεια, Turkish: Yermasoğlu) is an eastern suburb of Limassol and a municipality in the Limassol District of Cyprus.
Physical Geography
--------------------Germasogeia borders to the west with the Municipality of Agios Athanasios, to the north with Akruda and Mathikoloni, to the north-east with Finikaria and to the east with Mouttayaka. The southern part of its administrative area is coastal.
Origins of Name
-----------------The name Germasogeia comes from Greek words "ieros" (ἱερός) meaning "sacred" and "mesogeia" (μεσογεια) meaning "middle land" or "land near the sea". This refers to the area's proximity to the Mediterranean Sea.
History
------------In the area of Germasogeia, many prehistoric tombs have been excavated. However, no traces of settlements were found, so it is unknown when the village was first established.
