Yorgos Foudoulis: A Renowned Greek Guitarist and Composer

Yorgos Foudoulis is a renowned Greek guitarist and composer, born in Volos in 1964. He is the son of George Foudoulis, also a musician. As a classical guitarist and composer, he has had an illustrious career, both as a solo artist and as a professor at various institutions around the world.

Foudoulis's professional activity encompasses his work as a solist, professor, and composer with international recognition. He has participated in numerous festivals, including the Festival Internacional de Guitarra Volos, the Festival internacional de Istambul, and the Zory International Guitar Festival, among others. His music is characterized by its rich artistic and educational activities in Greece and abroad.

One of Foudoulis's most notable achievements is his work as the founder and director of the Funtouli Conservatory in Volos, which he established in 1991 with the recognition of the Ministry of Culture. The conservatory has become a hub for distinguished educators and artists, offering special curriculum programs, events, seminars, festivals, and more.

Foudoulis's compositional style is deeply rooted in ancient Greek mythology, as evident in his music inspired by Elytis, Cavafy, Seferi, Varnalis, Ritso, Polydouri, Apollonio Rodio (3rd century BC), and many other poets. He holds the world record for mellifying poets, having studied over 80 of them.

Throughout his career, Foudoulis has maintained permanent artistic cooperation with numerous countries, including Italy, England, Poland, Canada, USA, Russia, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Norway, China, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Cuba, Lebanon, and Cyprus. His collaborations have led to the graduation of hundreds of guitarists and musicians who have made a career as soloists or professors.

Foudoulis's work extends beyond his music, with his involvement in various cultural institutions and events around Greece and abroad. He is also an artistic director of the World Summer and Winter Festival of Volos and president of the International Art Society & Academy.
