Lyudmila Georgievna Yuga (born April 15, 1948) – People’s Artist of the Russian Federation (2019); Soviet and Russian graphic artist, painter, book illustrator, works in etching, monotype, watercolor, painting. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia (1983), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2023).

Biography
Since 1964 he lives and works in Tver. Father, Yuga Georgy Antonovich - artist, mother, Novikova Iunia Grigorievna - music worker, studied in the studio of K. S. Stanislavsky. Her husband is Nikolai Pogorelov, a photo artist, a member of the Union of Designers of Russia.

She received her education at the Moscow Printing Institute (class of Prof. Andrei Goncharov and Pavel Zakharov) in graphics, artistic and technical design of printed products (1970-1974).

Creativity.

At major art exhibitions in Moscow, the works of Lyudmila Yuga first appeared in the mid-1980s. These were elegant engravings made in the etching technique, usually with the use of aquatint and other techniques of processing the zinc form. They were devoted to the theme of monuments of historical and cultural heritage popular among the Russian intelligentsia at that time and were warmly welcomed in intellectual circles. Before the audience unfolded poetic paintings of ancient manors, ancient monasteries, cities, villages. The realistic manner that distinguished the works of L. Yuga allowed the author to achieve high technicality, virtuoso skill. At the same time, the artist has developed a certain rationality in the transformation of everyday themes and plots. These qualities put it among the peculiar and very interesting Russian graphs. Reproductions of the works of L. Yuga began to appear more and more often in Russian newspapers and magazines. With special love Lyudmila Yuga works in the technique of easel printing graphics ( etching). It was the etching that particularly interested and fascinated her with the technical complexity, multi-facetedness, always attractive unpredictability of the texture of the engraving board. In the creative development of the artist, the houses of creativity of the Union of Artists “Chelyuskinskaya”, “Senezh” played a great role. According to Lyudmila Yuga, the most important and relevant topic will not find a way to the heart of the viewer if the works do not have a deep idea, a thoughtful concept and professional skill. The graphic handwriting of the artist is recognizable by the special dynamism, hardness and determination of lines, by active rhythms. She is not just an experienced etching artist, but a master who owns a variety of etching manners, working technically and competently. The idea of the connection of man with the world and his moral responsibility before him, the interpenetration of cultures are revealed very consistently. Through the prism of time and continuity of history, Lyudmila Yuga considers the topic of departing monuments, rightly believing that the moral health of society is inextricably linked with a careful attitude to the culture of the past.
