Zafer Stadium

The Zafer Stadium, also known as Morphou Municipal Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Morfou (Guzelyurt), in the north of the island of Cyprus, in the territory controlled by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

History and Ownership

The stadium was originally owned by the Morphou Municipality of the Republic of Cyprus. However, due to the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the stadium and the town of Morfou are currently under illegal occupation by the Turkish military. According to the Cypriot Government, the official name of the stadium is Morphou Municipal Stadium.

Facilities and Usage

The Zafer Stadium has a seating capacity for up to 7,000 spectators and is primarily used for football games. It hosted some matches for the 2006 ELF Cup, a tournament organized by the Northern Cyprus football team. The stadium serves as the home ground of several local football clubs, including Baf Ülkü Yurdu S.K., Binatlı Yılmaz S.K., and Digenis Akritas Morphou.
