Early Life and Club Career

Zdeněk Rygel was born on March 1, 1951, in Ostrava. He started playing football at Baník Michálkovice and joined Baník Ostrava at the age of 15. Initially, he played in midfield but later transitioned to defense.

Rygel made his first appearances in the Czechoslovak League with Baník Ostrava during the 1972/73 season. He went on to win several titles with the club, including:

* **Czechoslovak Cup**: 1978

After playing 257 first division games and scoring seven goals for Baník Ostrava, Rygel moved to EPA Larnaka in Cyprus. He returned to Czechoslovakia after one season and played for FC Zbrojovka Brno in the second division for two years.
