Zeki Çeler

Early Life and Education

Zeki Çeler was born on 4 March 1981 in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus. He graduated from Girne Anafartalar High School and later completed a bachelor's degree in Political Sciences and Public Administration at the Eastern Mediterranean University.

Career

Çeler began his career as an independent candidate in the 2010 local elections for the Kyrenia Municipality. Between 2011-2018, he served as the Mayor of Kyrenia, representing the Community Democracy Party (TDP). In the 2013 and 2018 general elections, Çeler was elected as a member of parliament from the Girne District.

Political Career

Çeler has been involved in various political roles. He became the youngest Turkish Cypriot member of the parliament of TRNC in 2013. At the parliamentary elections held on 28 July 2013, he became the youngest member of parliament in the TRNC. In February 2018, Çeler was appointed as the Minister of Labor and Social Security in the Erhürman Hükûmeti.

Recent Developments

In the December 25, 2022 local elections, Çeler was elected as the Independent Mayor of Kyrenia.
