Zorlu Töre
Zorlu Töre (born 1956 in Larnaca) is a Turkish Cypriot politician.
Early Life and Education
Töre graduated from Çukurova University's Faculty of Agriculture. He later pursued a career in trading.
Political Career
In the 2009 general elections, Töre was elected as a member of the National Union Party (UBP). Between 2010-2011, he served as the Minister of Natural Resources. During this time, he was part of the "Eights" movement within UBP, which aimed to introduce democratic reforms.
In May 2013, Töre defected from UBP and joined the Democrat Party (DP) after voting in favor of reducing the president's powers. However, he later returned to UBP when Hüseyin Özgürgün was re-elected as the party's president.
Recent Roles
In the 2018 general elections, Töre was re-elected as a member of UBP. On February 9, 2018, he was elected as the Vice President of the Assembly by the TRNC Republic Assembly.
As of 2022, Töre has been serving as the Speaker of the Northern Cyprus Assembly.
