Ilya Zubarev is a Cypriot technology entrepreneur, co-founder and co-owner of international companies Acumatica, Parallels and Acronis, Infratel Inc, partner in venture funds Runa Capital and Quantum Wave.

In 1996 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, where he met Sergey Belousov, who became his equal partner in many business projects.

In 1994, Zubarev and Belousov founded the company Standard & Western and established in Russia the assembly of TVs from components from Southeast Asia, laying the foundations of the future company Rolsen Electronics. The company’s software division soon became a franchise distributor in Asia of ERP, a system of the American company Solomon Software, and later engaged in the development of the Cassandra banking system and offshore programming for American companies.

In 2000, the company was renamed SWsoft and engaged in software for the automation and virtualization of service providers. By 2008, when the company was renamed Parallels, 12 rival companies had been absorbed. Parallels is Zubarev’s main asset.

Zubarev is a co-founder and co-owner of Acronis, a backup, disaster recovery and data protection system manufacturer spun off from SWsoft in 2003. Since 2006 he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In 2010, he co-founded the venture capital fund Runa Capital, and in late 2012, together with Belousov, he created the world’s first fund for investment in quantum technologies Quantum Wave. Ilya Zubarev about himself: “Everything I wanted to achieve in life, I have long achieved.” But I've always been interested in doing complex business, building technologically advanced companies, so I continue to do that now. Married. His brother Yakov Zubarev is a co-founder and member of the board of directors of Parallels.

Criticism
The Runa Capital Foundation, founded by Zubarev and his associates, is featured in a 2016 investigation by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists into the Panama Case.
