Zé Vítor (footballer, born 1982)
Early Life and Career
José Vítor Jardim Vieira, commonly known as Zé Vítor, was born on February 11, 1982, in Funchal, Madeira. He began his football career with local clubs CSD Câmara de Lobos and AD Machico before joining Marítimo Funchal.
Professional Career
Zé Vitor started his professional career in 2005 with Nacional Funchal in the Portuguese first division. During this time, he played alongside Diego Benaglio, who would later become the goalkeeper of the Swiss national team. In January 2008, he moved to FC St. Gallen in the Swiss first division.
Career in Switzerland
Under coach Krassimir Balakov, Zé Vitor struggled to establish himself as a regular player for FC St. Gallen. However, after Balakov's departure and Uli Forte taking over, Zé Vitor received more playing time and became a regular player on the right wing during the 2009/10 season.
International Career
Zé Vítor played in various top-tier leagues, including Portugal, Switzerland, Cyprus, and Greece. He represented several clubs, including Apollon Limassol, AEL Limassol, União da Madeira, Sankt Gallen, and Nacional da Madeira.
Personal Life
Zé Vitor holds Portuguese citizenship and has played for both Portuguese and foreign teams throughout his career.
