Åke Edwardson (* 10). March 1953 in Vrigstad south of Jönköping is a Swedish writer who is perceived in Germany in particular as the author of crime novels.

Live life
Edwardson is one of the most successful Swedish crime writers, alongside Henning Mankell, Liza Marklund, Sjöwall/Wahlöö, Håkan Nesser, Arne Dahl and Stieg Larsson. The latter, who was a journalist like Edwardson, he personally knew very well. Åke Edwardson lives in Gothenburg.

Before his career as a writer, Edwardson worked for more than 20 years as a journalist on behalf of the UN in the Middle East and Cyprus and also as a freelance journalist in other continents, writing about sports, travel, literature and foreign policy. He co-authored two basic textbooks on journalism. At the University of Gothenburg he trained journalists.

Since the mid-1990s, Edwardson has been writing crime novels. All his novels about Commissioner Erik Winter in Gothenburg, Sweden, have also been published in German. Åke Edwardson regularly reads about the publications of the German editions of his books in Germany. Åke Edwardson speaks German, but Oliver Mommsen regularly reads it in German.

In a SPIEGEL online interview, Edwardson stated on 21. June 2008, after 10 episodes to write his protagonist Winter no more crime novels. After a four-year break, however, further commissioner-winter novels appeared from 2012.
