The Çoban Salatası (sometimes also as a choban salad) is a traditional Turkish cuisine salad. It is a very popular salad from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus. It is considered by the Turks as a light salad, ideal for hot summer days, which is the time when it is most often consumed. The name of this salad in Turkish means "shepherd's salad."
Characteristics
The salad is a combination of tomatoes finely cut into slices of medialuna or cubes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers and parsley leaves. The stew is usually a mixture (vinaigrette) of lemon juice, olive oil and salt.
