Ümmügülsüm Bedel

Ümmügülsüm Bedel (born 8 February 1995 in Fethiye) is a Turkish handball player. She belongs to both the national team in indoor and beach handball. She plays on the left outside.

Indoor handball
Ümmügülsüm Bedel plays for first division team İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyespor. Several times she played with her clubs internationally. In the Challenge Cup 2011/12 she failed with Anadolu University SK in the third round to ŽRK Lokomotiva Zagreb, 2012/13 to ABU Baku. Also with their new club İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyespor failed Bedel in the Challenge Cup 2014/15 in the third round, 2015/16 the team came to the quarterfinals, where they failed at EKS start Elbląg. In the 2017/18 season she played with Ankara Yenimahalle BSK in the EHF Cup and reached there with her club the second round, where they lost to HC Zalău. At the EHF European Cup of Women 2020/21 Bedel, now playing again for İzmir, failed in the third round in an internal Turkish duel against Yalıkavak Spor Kulübü.

Bedel also plays for the Turkish national team. With this she won the silver medal at the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games 2017 in Baku after a final defeat against Azerbaijan.

Beachhandball

Bedel participated with the Beachhandball national team for the first time in 2019 at the European Championships in Stare Jabłonki. After Turkey had won in their preliminary round only against Romania, the team played subsequently in the consolation round. From there, the team went unbeaten in the placement games. After a victory against Italy and a defeat against Russia, Turkey won the final match for eleventh place against the Polish hostesses. Bedel came in nine of the ten games and scored 62 points and was thus after Neslihan Çalışkan (88) and Nurceren Akgün Göktepe (69) third best scorer of their team. Against Switzerland she was with eight points best thrower of her team, against Cyprus and against Russia she scored with ten her most points in a game. She was not used against the great outsider North Macedonia in the last consolation round game.
