İsmail Koçman (* 1943 in Karasu, Sakarya Province; † 11 August 2013) was a Turkish General of the Army (Turk Kara Kuvvetleri), who was, among other things, between 1994 and 1996 commander of the Armed Forces of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC Güvenlik Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı), commander of the 3rd Army (Üçüncü Ordu) from 2006 to 2007 and, most recently, commander of the 1st Army (Birinci Ordu) between 2007 and 2008.

Live life
After attending school, Koçman began officer training at the Army School (Kara Harp Okulu), which he completed in 1962. After the subsequent graduation of the artillery school (Topçu Okulu) in 1963, he found use as an officer in various army units and was successively platoon commander, company chief and battery chief, before he attended the staff course at the Army Academy (Kara Harp Akademisi) from 1973 to 1975. Subsequently, he remained as a teaching officer at the Army Academy and subsequently became Chief of Staff of the Occupation Force in Cyprus KTBK (Kıbrıs Türk Barış Kuvvetleri). Afterwards he was used as head of unit for training courses in the Department of Organization and Training in the General Staff of Turkey and as commander of the Maltepe Cadet Institute (Maltepe Askerî Lisesi) founded in 1928. After being promoted to lieutenant general (corgeneral) in 2000, Koçman became commanding general of the IX Corps (IX Kolordu) in Erzurum, part of the 3rd Army, and subsequently in 2002 head of the evaluation and audit department in the Army headquarters. After his promotion to General (Orgeneral) he became commander of the training and training command EDOK (Eğitim ve doctrine Komutanlığı).
