Ľudmila Maťavková

Ľudmila Maťavková (* 11 April 1998 in Chynorany) is a Slovak footballer who is mostly used in offensive midfield. Since the season 2021/22 she is under contract with FC Brügge and represents the Slovak national team since 2016.

Career

Club career
Ľudmila Maťavková began her football career in the youth of OŠK Chynorany and FC Baník Prievidza. As a player of FC Baník Prievidza, she was awarded female football talent of the year in 2013. She also had trial training at the German clubs FFC Frankfurt and FC Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, she decided to take the next step in her career at Czech club 1. There she gained her first experience in the adult sector. During the winter break of the 2018/19 season, she moved back to Slovakia and joined the ŠK Slovan Bratislava, with whom she could directly win the Slovak Championship. In the 2019/20 season, she could not defend the championship with Slovan Bratislava, as the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the 2020/21 season, Ľudmila Maťavková joined the newly founded women’s division of Sporting Charleroi, which entered directly into the Super League, the highest league in Belgian women’s football. On July 16, 2020, she immortalized herself in the annals of the club when she played in the club’s first Super League game in the 17th century. Minute with the meanwhile 1-0 lead the club scored the first goal in the Super League. The game could win the team of Sporting Charleroi finally with 9:1. She finished the main round together with her team on the last place in the table, but in the relegation round the team was able to improve to the penultimate place in the table and thus managed to maintain the sporting class.

After only one season, Ľudmila Maťavková left the team from Charleroi and joined the women’s division of FC Bruges.

National team career
For the Slovak national team, Ľudmila Maťavková made his debut at the friendly match against Croatia on 26 November 2016. For the 5-3 victory of her team in Zagreb, she could score two goals directly on her debut. In 2018, she took together with Slovakia for the first time at the Cyprus Cup and was able to score her third goal in the national dress in the final match for 9th place, where the Slovak team met the Czech Republic. Despite the hit, Slovakia lost the game 2-5 and finished the 2018 Cyprus Cup in tenth place.
